Established in 2013, fete records — once known as „Markus Ehrlichs Flexible Eingreiftruppe“ (german for: „flexible task-force“) and now the creative home of the fete Bigband, its artistic jewel — serves as the platform through which he continually brings forth new and singular projects that enrich the musical landscape and reflect his broad artistic curiosity and talent.
Born and raised in a musical family, Markus picked up the clarinet at the age of eight and added the tenor-saxophone when he was twelve. From 2007 to 2009 he studied jazz with Prof. Juergen Seefelder at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim. After three more years with Gregoire Peters and Prof. Peter Weniger at the Jazz-Institut Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts / Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler) he graduated in July 2012. During that time Markus was lucky enough to study with renowned artists, such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Claudio Puntin, John Hollenbeck, Gerard Presencer, Mark Turner, Jim Black, Michael Abene, Joey Baron, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard and many more.
